Art and Conservation With John Muir Laws: The Canids Among Us!

May 6 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm PDT

Join the Nature Journal Workshop for a special edition of Art and Conservation. Special guests Michelle Lute and Marcia Sivek will help us understand the role of carnivores in our ecosystems and the challenges to their conservation. We will then explore the differences between wolves and smaller canid carnivores such as coyotes and fox, and how to draw them in your journal.

About our Guests Michelle L. Lute, PhD. National Carnivore Conservation Manager, is a conservation scientist and advocate with fifteen years experience in biodiversity conservation on public and private lands around the globe. She dedicates her professional life to promoting human-wildlife coexistence through effective public engagement, equitable participatory processes, and evidence-based decision-making. Born the daughter of a fourth-generation farmer in the Great Lakes, Michelle’s love for all things wild began at the fringes of human-dominated landscapes. From cornfield to the classroom, her explorations of human interactions with non-human animals instilled an enduring belief that compassionate coexistence is not only possible but essential for our increasingly hot, hungry, and crowded world. www.projectcoyote.org

Marcia Sivek is the host of BeProvided Conservation Radio, a podcast sharing stories of wildlife and the people dedicating their lives to protecting our natural world. We interview people spanning from the Santa Cruz Mountains of California to remote areas of Africa and more. They tell us how they were inspired to do what they do, challenges they and the wildlife face, and most importantly, hopeful stories of success and how we can continue to help. www.beprovided.com Click Here to Join the Zoom Workshop!
